Raised Bed Garden Plan
Do you plan out your vegetable garden or just go with the flow and plant wherever you feel like?
I’d say I do about 90% planned and 10% spontaneous plantings. I find that if I diagram things out it’s so much easier to follow those plans. It also helps me with applying some good garden practices such as companion planting and crop rotation.
Here’s this year’s plan of my kitchen garden:
To date I have planted:
- Yellow & red onions
- Spinach
- Arugula
- Radish
- Leeks
- Potatoes
- Broccoli
- Carrots (one area)
- Garlic (planted last fall)
- Beets
- Lettuce (some)
- Asparagus
As the season progresses and crops get harvested, I’ll plant more stuff in their place…typically more greens or fall season crops. And sometimes the plan just doesn’t work out and I start planting this, this, and that all over the place.
It’s hard to control myself sometimes. Isn’t this time of year just freaking awesome?
Do you plan out your garden or just wing it?

Thanks so much for publishing your plan.
This is the best time of the year…the best part of my life that is..planting and growing ..our own food… free of blah, blah, blah, we plant it and God grows it! sweet deal if you ask me! Love yer love of the GARDEN!
